Buyer pathway

Source malting barley with comparable evidence

Define the intended use, analytical specification, crop and origin evidence, traceability and delivery terms before comparing an offer.

Start with the requirement

A useful request is more than “malting barley”

A variety or origin name cannot guarantee performance on its own. The buyer brief should connect the finished product and process to a measurable grain specification, required evidence and delivery condition.

1. Use and process

State brewery, maltster, distilling, food or other use; all-malt or adjunct process; and any validated variety requirement.

2. Lot specification

Define the required analytical parameters, methods, tolerances, crop year, lot size and representative sampling procedure.

3. Origin and claims

Describe acceptable origins and the documentary standard for sustainability, pesticide, identity-preserved or traceability claims.

4. Delivery

Set Incoterm, destination, shipment window, packaging or bulk requirement, inspection point and document deadline.

Minimum evidence package

  • Lot-linked certificate of analysis using agreed methods.
  • Crop year, variety declaration where required, origin and traceability identifiers.
  • Phytosanitary, food-safety and destination documents applicable to the transaction.
  • Clear statement of what each sustainability or production claim covers and who verifies it.

Use the buyer specification worksheet to structure the analytical requirement. For origin context, review the Argentina sourcing brief, market intelligence and supply-chain atlas.

Controlled comparison

A five-step sourcing workflow

1. Qualify

Confirm intended use, buyer approval and regulatory constraints.

2. Specify

Issue one version-controlled requirement to every potential supplier.

3. Verify

Review lot evidence and resolve method or sampling differences.

4. Contract

Record tolerances, remedies, inspection and document responsibilities.

5. Learn

Link delivery and processing results back to the lot and supplier.

Build a sourcing brief

Tell us the use, destination, timing and evidence you need. We will use the same brief to evaluate fit; no offer is implied until the lot and terms are confirmed.
